For more than 2 months and a half I'm without an ID. I gave my ID to the authorities 2 & 1/2 months for them to put residence visa like every year. Usually this should take 10 business days, but not in this case.
The worst thing is that in Romania you can't anything without an ID, I could not pay my internet without a valid ID. They postpone & postpone with lame excuses, I don't know what the heck is happening. Does anyone know where I can write a complaint to?

bureaucracy is still high in Romania. I agree with that.
I don't agree that in Romania you cannot do anything without an ID card. I pay all my bills through direct payment or internet transaction or even in cash at my internet provider (your e.g.) but I was never asked about my ID card. So I don't really buy that, it must be a mistake somewhere.
First of all I MUST pay my internet thru BRD bank which doesnt accept any other identification than the ID (tried with the Passport, birth certificate).
I got a package from USA I couldn't pick it up only after I almost BEGGED the woman there to give it to me after I showed up with the passport.
Also I have a bank account which I can't withdraw money cause I dont have a card attached to the account and they don't accept any other ID.
Just loose your ID, you will discover how important the ID is :)
well ur real problem is in fact the lack of a debit card in ur hand. I lost my ID card for 3 months and I used my passport everywhere cause it is valid as long it contains the same CNP as ur ID card. (If u r a foreigner than it might be a problem indeed)
I have 3 bank accounts, on 2 of them I have debit cards and the 3rd one is used for foreign currency deposits. On that account I can't use a passport, your invited to come with me next time when I go to bank :P
Cheers!
well i won't "fight" with you on this. :) I have a Banca Transilvania account with debit card and BT24 online account. When I lost my ID I went to the their office and I updated my account with the passport using the CNP details and everything was fine. Of course for different payments I use BT24 or online payments when there's no other way.
I also went to Post Office and I colected some "signed for" letters using my passport. Myabe I am lucky, I dont know...This is my case.
You're lucky! :P
Man, the passport IS an ID! It has the same validity as your ID Card.
Go and rip their heads off!
Great advice Lion =))
